BIM (Building Information Modeling) is an innovative technology that enables the creation of accurate digital models of buildings and infrastructure. The use of 3D laser scanning makes this process as detailed as possible, ensuring accurate data at every stage of design, construction and operation. Learn how BIM and 3D scanning can help optimize construction processes, minimize errors, and reduce costs

Building Information Modeling

BIM (Building Information Modeling) is a technology that allows creating a digital (information) model of a building. BIM allows several contractors to work together on planning, design and construction through a single 3D spatial model.

The digital model contains and analyzes the maximum amount of data about the object. It allows you to visualize all the details of the object, calculate options for their completion, determine the nomenclature of materials to be purchased, and virtually test the characteristics of operation.

However, in order for this model to meet construction standards, you need the most accurate measurements possible, expensive equipment and specialists who know how to process the data collected during the process. The use of 3D laser scanning ensures that the information is read accurately and, based on such comprehensive data, our specialists can recreate your object with centimeter accuracy.

It's beneficial because you get:

  1. Visible information available to all authorized project participants and updated in real time;
  2. Accurate measurements of all heights, lengths, areas and volumes based on available data without the need for site visits;
  3. An objective information model based on accurate data and proven processing algorithms.

BIM and 3D scanning in construction

If we define the scanning process for building a spatial model, we get:

"The process of 3D laser scanning of a physical space or object to create an accurate digital replica or model. This model reflects the existing building with its physical and functional characteristics for subsequent design, progress and cost estimating, option modeling, and more."

When we talk about "3D scanning", we mean a process that uses a specialized laser scanner to accurately scan an object in real time. This is a very important stage of the work, because on the basis of the array of data collected, specialists subsequently assemble an accurate and functional model.

Why do we use 3D laser scanning?

If we define the scanning process for building a spatial model, we get:

"The process of 3D laser scanning of a physical space or object to create an accurate digital replica or model. This model reflects the existing building with its physical and functional characteristics for subsequent design, progress and cost estimating, option modeling, and more."

How do our scanners work?

A 3D laser scanner contains an eye-safe laser that rotates at high speed. As the laser spins, it hits solid surfaces and a detector records the position of that surface into the scanner as a set of "X, Y, Z" coordinates, which are known as "points". These points are then uploaded to data processing programs and put together to make a high precision image, commonly referred to as a "point cloud".

And already from the point cloud you can build a full 3D model, the functionality of which is limited only by your needs and which can always be expanded based on the available data and additional scans.
