One of the two passenger river stations in Moscow, combining the functions of a transportation hub and a modern public space

As part of a comprehensive refurbishment of the South River Station, our Client requested the refurbishment of all floors of the facility. The main damage included chaotic cracks, worn shrinkage joints and surface irregularities. We needed to ensure the strength and durability of the floors while maintaining their decorative appearance and consistency with the overall architectural concept of the station. All works were carried out within a tight timeframe in order to complete the project before the station opened to passengers

Repair of floors throughout the entire site, including public areas, taking into account the requirements of the complex reconstruction of the Southern River Station

Ensuring the strength and durability of the finished floor to withstand heavy use and long-term operation

Preservation of the decorative appearance of the floors and their harmonious integration into the architectural concept of the station

Careful treatment of all cracks, seams and irregularities to create a perfectly level surface to match the high standard of the facility

Works within the schedule of opening the station for passengers

Carrying out works with minimal impact on other reconstruction processes of the facility

The following technologies are agreed upon for this project:

1. Expanding and filling joints with epoxy resin - restoring the integrity and tightness of the coating

2 Injection of the floor with ultra-mobile epoxy resin - strengthening the adhesion between terrazzo and concrete substrate

3. Repair of random cracks with epoxy resin - repair of damage with preservation of decorative properties of the coating

4. Coarse sanding - leveling the surface and eliminating level differences

5. Polishing to a specified level - restoring the smoothness and shine of terrazzo

6. Application of special protective impregnation - dedusting, hardening and protection of the coating from contamination

The first step was to expand the existing shrinkage joints to the required width and cut additional joints according to the agreed layout into ~3x3 meter "maps"

Next, to ensure reliable adhesion between the decorative layer and the substrate, injection with a super-mobile clear epoxy resin was performed through the widened joints, and chaotic cracks were repaired using clear epoxy resin and shrinkage joints were filled in

Then, to level and restore the surface, the entire floor area was coarsely sanded and repeatedly sanded to a specified level to achieve the smoothness and gloss required by the Customer. Finally, the surface was treated with a specialized protective compound, which provided dedusting and additional hardening of the floor, as well as protection against contamination

The final stage involved collecting and bagging the waste and thoroughly cleaning the floor to ensure the pavement was ready for use
